What depression taught me
“Sharing real life stories is a way that people can talk honestly about the hidden issues that affect individuals and society. Debs talks about her own experience with depression and despair and how this led her to founding a network to help others share and connect.”
Debs Carter is the founder of the Touch Network which celebrates real life stories of everyday people who are overcoming life’s challenges. The hope is that celebrating real life stories becomes part of doing life together, rather than something that may be a little awkward. It reduces isolation, loneliness and stigma and increases the sense of connection between people. Debs began the network by sharing her own story of overcoming severe depression. Debs has a degree in Sociology and Social Policy and also works as a freelancer helping charities and social enterprises to grow through fundraising, business planning and client involvement.
